Home / About us / IntroductionLiDARNET is the first lidar ecological application data sharing website in China. It aims to promote the collection, sharing and application of lidar data in my country and give full play to the application of cutting-edge lidar technology in ecology, geoscience and other fields. potential.
LiDARNET was launched in 2023 by researcher Tao Shengli from the Peking University Ecological Research Center, relying on Peking University and the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences of Peking University. It is jointly established by more than 40 researchers from nearly 30 units including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Sun Yat-sen University, Beijing Normal University, the University of Hong Kong, Northwest A&F University, and Beijing Forestry University (the number of personnel is still growing). The creation of the website received special support from Academician Fang Jingyun of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director Guo Qinghua of the Institute of Remote Sensing of Peking University, Professor Tang Zhiyao, Director of the Department of Ecology, School of Urban and Environment of Peking University, and others.
LiDARNET has publicly shared 134 pieces of lidar data from 18 provinces across the country, covering various vegetation types such as forests, shrubs, grasslands, and mangroves, as well as various scanning platforms such as foundations, handhelds, and drones, total sample areas The number reaches 447, and the total data volume reaches 2.7 TB. It is currently the lidar ecological application data sharing website with the largest variety of data and the largest platform in China.
