LiDARNET successfully held its preparatory meeting online on November 11, 2023, marking a significant step forward in promoting the collection, sharing, and application of LiDAR data for ecosystems in China. This meeting signifies a crucial advancement in collaboration among Chinese universities and research institutions in the field of LiDAR ecological applications.

Initiated by Dr. Tao Shengli from the Ecological Research Center at Peking University in 2023, LiDARNET serves as the first domestic platform for sharing LiDAR ecological data. The meeting saw the participation of over 40 researchers from nearly 30 institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Sun Yat-sen University, Beijing Normal University, the University of Hong Kong, Northwest A&F University, and Beijing Forestry University.

During the meeting, experts engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on various aspects of website construction, data sharing mechanisms, and the application of research results, reaching consensus on important matters. The promotion of data sharing for LiDAR ecological applications will provide more accurate and comprehensive support for China's ecological environment monitoring, resource management, and ecological civilization construction, thereby propelling the development of China's ecological civilization to new heights.
